Four tiny ducklings arrived at Mandurah Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre after being found alone, too young to survive without their mother. With no protection or guidance, their chances in the wild were slim.
From the start, they stayed close, pressing into each other for comfort. Quiet and still at first, they showed their true personalities at feeding time darting for food, peeping loudly, and flapping their tiny wings in excitement. Their energy was a good sign, proof that they were strong. We are hopeful they’ll develop the skills they need for life beyond care.
As they grow, Mandurah Wildlife will help them learn to be wild, providing the right environment to build their natural instincts while limiting human interaction. They will learn to forage, and navigate their surroundings, preparing for release when they are ready.
While we don’t have a specific timeline yet for their return to the wild, we remain optimistic. Our team is dedicated to giving these ducklings the care they need to thrive. We’ll keep you updated on their progress as they embark on their journey toward independence.
